Matilde Alís i Clopès was born in Arbúcies in 1909 and was a midwife.

Matilde had four siblings: Matilde, Lourdes, Alfredo and Maria.

Her mother, Ms. Coloma Clopès Sastre, who was a labours teacher, died in June 26th, in 1956.

She was invited to the 4th Retired People Meeting from the Oficial School of Nursing Graduated Students, an official reception that took place in 1999 at the Girona’s Town Hall. It was concretely a tribute to Matilde Alís and her colleague, Lluís Orris, because of their professional career.

She got married with Baldiri Costa Batlle and had two children: Mercedes i Lluís, and also grandchildren and great-children.

She died in July 26th, in 2001, at 91 years old, at the Maria Gay Retirement Home, in Girona.
